For yamadori:

  • Root Ball Wraps: Burlap or damp cloth to wrap the root ball and keep it moist during transport.
  • Plastic Bags: To hold smaller root balls or to wrap roots for short-term moisture retention.
  • Wire or Twine: To secure the burlap around the root ball.
  • Shovel: A sturdy spade for digging around the tree’s root system.
  • Trowel: For more precise work close to the roots.
  • Root Saw: To cleanly cut thicker roots.
