Soften butter to room temperature

Many recipes calle for “room temperature” butter, and/or “room temperature” egg. This is not optional, usually.

But also, I never have room temperature butter. I keep my butter in my fridge, thank you very much.

Here is how to soften butter to room temperature, quickly.

  1. Put a bowl of water in the microwave for 2-4 minutes
  2. Take it out
  3. In a second bowl, put your butter
  4. Put that bowl in the now empty microwave, don’t turn on the microwave
  5. Leave it in there for 10 mins or so.
