Unusual Pivots

Some startups that took drastic left turns through product iteration. This is a reminder to myself to never get married to an idea, to let demand, data, and user behavior dictate the ideas.

• Slack started as a game company called glitch. Their games failed, but they ended up with a really strong team chat tool in the process.
• Youtube started as a dating site called “Tune in Hook Up”
